Welcome to Polokwane Oval
POLOKWANE OVAL RELOADED
After a ‘time out’ due to the Polokwane Show the racers of Polokwane Oval are up in arms to show their skills on the race track on 28 April.
A welcome break was created by the Polokwane Show and drivers utilize this time to attend to their damaged cars after the United Kingdom’s fierce competition against our local drivers in January.
In the Stockrod class Marius Roelofse is rebuilding his car after a major accident during a visit to Mpumalanga Oval . This leaves the door open for other racers to grab points for the Club Championships.
The 1600 Modifieds will provide spectacular racing as always. Newcomer Jaco Mostert from Team Midas had technical problems during last week’s practice but will be aiming to cross the finish line first. Team Cooper Racing will not tolerate this and the dust will not settle easily.
Another newcomer in the 2.0L Modifieds Rudolf du Randt visit the wall during last weeks practice but is toiling fiercely to get his car ready. Although the 2.0 L Modified has not as many cars as the 1600 Modifieds the racing is as close. 2011 Club Champion Pieter Venter reclaimed his old Peugeot 206 but Roelof van Breda, Thiaan de Jager, Haccum Hough and Neil de Witt is as ready as always to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Another newcomer Andre Pienaar has built himself a Rotary and will be competing on the Oval for the first time. Warhorses Piet Venter, Rudy Meyburgh and current Champion Raulph Nel will have a battle of their own and if lady luck has her way Marius Fourie can also have a piece of the Hotrod cake.
The Super Saloon race should not be missed. Current WOMZA National Champions Ben Smit and Jan Nel will have their hands full with Hans Barwise and Piet Venter. These roaring V8 engines produce close to 700 HP and are really and handful to control on a small Oval track.
Ten Oval racers from Mpumalanga Oval(Middelburg) will visit us to stir the pot in some classes. Middelburg hosts some of the quickest 1600 Modifieds in South Africa and this should not be missed.
Food and drinks will be on sale during the day but spectators are more than welcome to bring their own braais etc. Eight braais are available around the track as well.
Gates open at 14:00 and racing starts at 18:00
